I was recently having breakfast with an outstanding couple, Joy & Phillip Attmore, and over the pancakes and bacon (with maple syrup), they reminded me that here in the first five words of the bible, we find a core element of the nature of God – “In the beginning God created…” This creative characteristic of God then explodes over the early pages of scripture forming and shaping and moulding until finally God created humans – “in His own image”.
Creativity isn’t something that some people have and others don’t – as surely as we are all made in God’s image, we are all created with creativity. That said, the diversity of the ways that creativity is expressed just mirrors the creative capacity of God. And each and every time we express our creativity, we honour God and His.
For over a year I’ve been pondering how to see more of the creative nature of God released in and through Frontline. It’s a big question – probably with a billion answers – but I’ve come down to a simple first step – get people with a passion in this area together and see what happens. What would it look like for us to see wider expressions of creativity in our Missional Communities, on our Scattered Sunday activities, in our projects and prayer times, our Sunday Services, Encounter evenings and gatherings? What would facilitate that?
So if you have a passion in this area and are willing to discuss the possibilities going forward, I’d like to invite you to come to our ‘Bringing Creativity’ evening on Friday 19th October, 7.30pm @Frontline. Here’s a link to sign up on ChurchSuite to let us know you’re coming.
