Role: Senior Leadership Team (Chair)
Hello, I'm Chris
I'm Chairman of the Trustees and the Senior Leadership Team here and have been an active member of the church since 1993. It's a great privilege to be part of the SL team for such a vibrant gospel-centred church.
Work-wise I'm a busy man! I'm a Consultant Surgeon at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital, where I'm also Clinical Director of the Breast Unit responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of breast disease in Liverpool. For the last two years, I've also been Cancer Lead for the Trust and am one of two Quality Assurance Surgeons for the Northwest National Breast Screening Programme (responsible for the surgical quality assurance of the regional Breast Screening Units).
I have also published extensively, most recently in the psychological aspects of breast cancer treatment, and more generally in surgery and gastroenterology, having completed my MD thesis on the importance of Helicobacter pylori in West Africa.
Now onto home-life: I have been happily married to Sue for over 30 years and we have four grown up children - Ben, Kate, Beth and Jon. For relaxation I enjoy hill walking and mountaineering.
That's about it for now. If you want to talk to me, just come chat at a Sunday service - it would be great to meet you!
