FRONTLINE is committed to equality and in line with this commitment; we strive to make our website accessible to all. An accessible site allows all users to access it, regardless of their browser, resolution, settings or eyesight.

Our website is guided by Government guidelines and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines v1.0.(WCAG) (see www.w3.org.uk)

All pages are built using standard compliant XHTML and CSS code. We ensure we carry out good practice accessibility, methods that have been developed within the industry such as, ensuring all forms have correct labelling, the site degrades gracefully, resizes and is flexible.

If JavaScript or Flash is used, it is used only as progressive enhancement rather than for essential functionality. 

How we support universal accessibility

 There are a number of ways in which we aim to support universal accessibility:

• A common design throughout.
• No fast or distracting flickering of image content.
• Scalable font sizes.
• A site map has been produced for easier access to all pages within the web site.
• Use of cascading style sheets (CSS2) for visual layout. If your browser or browsing device does not support stylesheets, the content of each page should nevertheless be readable
• Use of relative font sizes, compatible with the user-specified “text-size” option in visual browsers
• Fonts can be enlarged within the browser, for users who require larger, legible text.
• All images have appropriate alternative text descriptions ("ALT text")
• Avoiding the use of frames
• Whenever Word and PDF files are provided on a page (usually for large, complex documents) their file size is indicated, together with help and advice on how to read them. Before you can read PDF files you will need the Adobe Acrobat viewer which can be downloaded from www.adobe.com. Useful information on PDF files and their accessibility is available at: http://access.adobe.com/
• Use of valid html code (XHTML 1.0 strict).
• Advice on changing your Text size as displayed below.
• The web site will function correctly without scripting or rich-media plug-ins. This means if you do not have JavaScript or Adobe Flash turned on or installed, you will still be able to browse content.

Text size

If you need to change the size of the text on the site you can make it larger or smaller by doing the following:

• In Microsoft Internet Explorer - From the top menu bar choose – View > Text Size, then select from five options Largest – Smallest. Alternatively hold Alt + V, the press X then use the cursor keys to move up and down the text size options, press Enter to select the option
• In Opera - Hold Alt + V, then press Z followed by 0 (zero). Opera also allows you to press the + and – on the keyboard to increase and decrease the size respectively.
• In Mozilla Firefox - From the top menu bar choose - View > Zoom.

Changing colours 

Changing the site’s background colour can be particularly useful for users who rely on magnification technology, as white can produce an uncomfortable glare. It is also possible to change the colour of body text on the site.

Both can be achieved by changing preferences in your browser:

• In Microsoft Internet Explorer - In the Tools menu select Internet Options. Select Accessibility and put a tick in the box ‘Ignore colours specified on web pages’. Select OK. Go to Colours and select Colours - make any necessary changes to text and background.
• In Opera - In the File menu select Preferences. Open the ‘page style’ (under fonts and colours) and ensure ‘user mode’ options use own settings (default settings). Go into fonts and colours and change the colour options. Select ‘View’ then select ‘Style’ then select ‘user mode’
