Our Christians Against Poverty (CAP) centre helps families in Liverpool get free from the burden of debt.

Our trained debt counsellors offer in-depth support, including budget plans, home visits, support over the phone, and creditor negotiations and correspondence, which can last for months or years depending on the level of debt involved.

Client stories

Kenny's Story:

This is the story of Kenny, he was struggling with debt and through the help of our debt-counselling service he is now financially stable and a whole lot happier! Watch the video below to hear his story.

Kathryn's Story:

Kathryn is a school teacher, she came to our debt counselling service in March last year having suffered a relationship breakdown with a huge amount of debt, and was worried about looking after her young baby. If she had tried to pay back all the debts using her income alone it would have taken 57 years. Kathryn needed help, not only did she have her debts to worry about, she had 2 court orders and bailiff's were threatening to take her car away.

She contacted the service and immediately we were able to stop the bailiff's action and a repayment plan was put into place. She paid £15 a week into Christians Against Poverty (CAP) and after having to declare herself bankrupt she was able to put her life back together and slowly repay the bills that she could afford. Volunteer workers from our service met with kathryn on a regular basis and over a year down the line she is now managing her finances comfortably and bringing up her little girl in a happy home!
