Promoting social inclusion

Thanks to Sure Start funding, Fliss Stone, who previously headed up our long-running Word4Word project has been able to take on a new role promoting social inclusion for marginalised international people in our community.

Word4Word was Frontline's project providing English and computer classes, as well as valuable family support services to asylum seekers and refugees. The project closed in 2007 when its funding (from the European Social Fund) came to a natural end.

A new season

Now Fliss is working with her former students and has the job of seeking out families who have not yet accessed Sure Start services or any ESOL classes.

She also aims to help them overcome barriers to accessing our community activities such as Sticky Fingers, CAP debt advice and Kidz Klub .
